The modern physiotherapy treatment, TECAR therapy, is now available at BMM!

How Does TECAR Physiotherapy Work?

The TECAR device creates an electromagnetic field in the tissue between two electrodes. The electrodes are applied to the body surface by the physiotherapist. Current flows between the two electrodes, the magnitude of which depends on the tissue’s conductivity. The treatment is completely safe; the patient may experience a pleasant, warm sensation during therapy. During treatment, high-frequency electromagnetic energy causes deep tissue hyperthermia to relieve pain, release trigger points, and regenerate muscles.

The Mechanism of TECAR Therapy

During TECAR physiotherapy treatment, the physiotherapist delivers radiofrequency waves into the tissues using various applicators. The high-frequency electromagnetic wave penetrates to different tissue depths, causing local hyperemia, which reduces muscle pain, releases tight muscle knots, and improves tissue metabolism. Following various injuries, it enhances the absorption of edema and hematomas.

Important to note: the physiotherapy treatment is painless!

What Are the Effects of Physiotherapy?

  • Muscle pain decreases
  • Tight muscle knots are released
  • Tissue metabolism improves
  • Post-injury edema and bruising absorption is enhanced

When Is TECAR Therapy Recommended?

  • Various degenerative joint complaints (arthrosis)
  • Tendon sheath inflammation
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Golfer’s and tennis elbow
  • Rotator cuff injury
  • Cervical spine complaints
  • Thoracic spine complaints
  • Lower back pain
  • Hip region complaints
  • Heel spur
  • Achilles tendon inflammation
  • During rehabilitation following various fractures and injuries

When Is Therapy NOT Recommended?

  • Presence of electrical or metal implants
  • Malignant disease
  • Pregnancy
  • Thrombosis, phlebitis
  • Active inflammation in the body
  • Heart disease
  • Abnormal temperature sensation
  • In areas with open wounds
  • In cases of blood clotting disorders

In cases of a history of malignant tumors, an oncologist’s recommendation is required for physical therapy treatments, regardless of the region.

How Many TECAR Treatments Are Needed?

Depending on the severity of the complaints, generally a minimum of 5–10 treatments are required. Noticeable improvement can be expected after the 3rd physiotherapy treatment.

The therapist may apply massage techniques during treatment or muscle activation movements. Passive movement techniques effectively release trigger points, but the combination of these techniques is most beneficial.

How Frequently Should Treatments Be Scheduled?

One treatment per week is required for noticeable improvement.
