Orthopedic Private Outpatient Clinic
What does orthopedics deal with?
Orthopedics deals with the examination, diagnosis, and therapy of musculoskeletal diseases. Therapeutic treatment of orthopedic problems includes conservative treatments such as physiotherapy, physical therapy treatments, injection courses, and other non-surgical remedies; as well as surgical interventions when necessary.
The field of orthopedics includes injuries and diseases of bones, muscles, joints, and other musculoskeletal segments concerning both the limbs and the spinal column!
What complaints warrant a visit to an orthopedic doctor?
The leading symptom of orthopedic diseases is pain, which can be
- joint,
- muscle,
- and/or periosteal pain.
If complaints persist, meaning they last for at least 3 days, it is advisable to see a doctor, especially if the pain is sharp or stabbing and does not subside with rest. It is also not advisable to wait if you experience throbbing pain at night.
At the Budapest Musculoskeletal Private Outpatient Clinic, excellent orthopedic specialists and experts await patients, now at four locations in Budapest!
Our staff awaits your call Monday to Saturday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. For acute lower back pain, we guarantee an appointment for a medical examination on the same day!

X-ray diagnostic examination available on-site at the Óbuda Musculoskeletal Private Outpatient Clinic
Orthopedic examination with X-ray diagnostics
In cases of orthopedic complaints, especially if the problem stems from an injury, it is often necessary to take X-ray images of the affected body part. In such cases, the X-ray examination can be the key to differential diagnosis: it supports, refines, or even refutes the diagnosis presumed by the specialist’s physical examination with images. Changes in bones and joints are clearly visible on X-ray images, thus appropriate X-ray examination excellently supports the establishment of an accurate and precise differential diagnosis.
X-ray examination is now available at two clinics of the Budapest Musculoskeletal Private Outpatient Clinic, even immediately after the orthopedic specialist examination! At the Óbuda Musculoskeletal Private Outpatient Clinic, we can provide the necessary X-ray diagnostics immediately upon specialist recommendation!
Important: the price of imaging diagnostics is NOT included in the specialist examination fee; this must be paid separately. You can find information about the prices of various X-ray examinations here.
What methods do we use for treatment?
We consider the establishment of doctor-patient trust and cooperation for recovery to be of paramount importance. At our orthopedic specialist outpatient clinics, we treat exclusively according to the principles and views of the most modern, evidence-based Western medicine. We follow a strict examination protocol, while also participating in modern, promising research. Treatment methods are always tailored individually to the patient’s needs and possibilities.
The orthopedic specialist establishes the diagnosis based on the physical examination and imaging tests (e.g., X-ray, ultrasound, MRI), and then decides on the therapy. Treatment can be: conservative (i.e., non-surgical) therapy, or surgical intervention.
Conservative Orthopedic Treatments
At the orthopedic specialist outpatient clinic, the orthopedic specialist creates a conservative treatment plan tailored to the patient’s condition and circumstances, depending on the complaints.
Anti-inflammatory injection
Inflammatory complaints of joints and periosteum can be significantly reduced within 2-3 days with targeted, local, low-dose steroid treatment. In drug selection and when administering joint injections, we consider the patient’s unique characteristics, and in 90% of cases, we achieve symptom relief.
Joint filling injections
We inject hyaluronic acid between the joint surfaces, significantly reducing friction, and hyaluronic acid also nourishes cartilage cells. The injected substance remains in the joint for six months, during which time most of the cartilage cells regenerate. A great advantage is that it has no side effects and is no more uncomfortable than a blood test or an anesthetic injection at the dentist.
Serum Therapy
The reintroduction of serum obtained from the patient’s own blood into the joint is a revolutionary new solution. We concentrate the body’s own anti-inflammatory mechanisms and return them to the joint. An orthopedic specialist provides more information about the possibilities of serum therapy.
Shockwave Therapy
Special shockwaves stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation, which accelerates healing processes and reduces pain. In the treated area, it relaxes muscles and restores the flexibility of tendons and joints. Shockwave therapy is recommended for the treatment of orthopedic complaints in the following areas: heel, elbow, shoulder, knee.
Physiotherapy is the most effective circulation-improving treatment, which also immediately improves joint function. The goal is for the patient – with the help of our qualified therapists – to learn the exercises, for which we use the most modern video knowledge base, so that they can perfectly perform the personalized exercises at home.
Regular medical massage is a very effective aid, as it can mobilize muscles and ligaments that have been stuck for years.
In addition to the above, we also use laser therapy and physical therapy treatments (ultrasound therapy, electrotherapy, wave massage), as well as other complementary therapies (kinesio tape, flossing technique, NRX dynamic fixation) for the conservative treatment of orthopedic problems.
Orthopedic Surgeries
In cases of orthopedic complaints, surgical solutions are considered when other conservative treatments are ineffective.
The consideration of intervention always begins with evaluating the risk-benefit principle, involving several specialist areas – e.g., when choosing the method of anesthesia, and concludes with post-operative rehabilitation.
When planning surgery, imaging diagnostic examination of the affected body part plays a key role. In most cases, we obtain precise information about the location, extent, and degree of the orthopedic abnormality based on magnetic resonance, i.e., MRI scan results, ultrasound, or X-ray images.
The most common orthopedic surgeries on the upper and lower limbs provide solutions for degenerative, wear-and-tear diseases.
These include:
- hip joint, knee joint, and shoulder joint prosthesis implantations,
- corrective surgeries affecting the joint after accidents, such as knee cartilage detachment or cruciate ligament reconstruction,
- forefoot deformities such as bunions and hammer toe, which hinder shoe-wearing.
It is important before orthopedic surgeries to prepare the muscles and joints for the intervention, so it is recommended to start physiotherapy before the operation.
The Most Common Orthopedic Diseases
- In infancy, we examine the early development of the hip and other joints. In children aged 2-5, spinal and foot developmental abnormalities: scoliosis, inward-tilting medial malleolus – i.e., ankle collapse – are the most common problems.
- In adolescence, spinal development is in focus: we distinguish between poor posture or other spinal developmental disorders.
- In adulthood, due to sports injuries or static positions, such as prolonged sitting or standing work, early degenerative diseases may occur. Tennis elbow is common in tennis players, golfer’s elbow in golfers, and disc herniation often develops in basketball players.
- In old age, joint cartilage degeneration causes the most complaints. Many treatments can help in the early stages, but in the late stages, only surgical solutions are an option.
The Process of Orthopedic Examination
- The first and most important step is to ascertain the medical history. A good anamnesis is already half a diagnosis.
- Physical examination and status determination: The musculoskeletal system is examined by palpation, mobilization, and tests. An examination algorithm has developed over decades, with which many diseases can be immediately diagnosed.
- The key to differential diagnostics is imaging examination. Images are usually taken with X-ray or magnetic resonance (MRI) examination. While X-ray shows the structure of bones, MRI provides detailed information about soft tissues.
- We also provide X-ray examination in our clinic: at the Óbuda Musculoskeletal Private Outpatient Clinic, the X-ray examination recommended by the doctor can be performed immediately after the specialist examination.
- For magnetic resonance (MRI) examination, we can provide an appointment with a short lead time at our partner institution, SMART Diagnostics. Due to the nature of MRI scans, the results take 2-3 days to be prepared.
- The physical examination and, if necessary, imaging examination together provide the accurate diagnosis.
- We prepare a therapeutic recommendation, deciding what conservative – i.e., non-surgical – solution is possible: medication, injection therapies, most often physiotherapy. In case of surgery, we explain the procedure and its purpose based on the expected risk-benefit principle.
- We prepare documentation, organize further examinations, surgery if necessary, and accompany you on your path to recovery.
- At the reception, we issue an invoice for the healthcare service, and you choose the payment method: this can be cash, bank card, health savings account card, through an insurance company, or bank transfer.
