Therapeutic massage – much more than the power of touch
Many people think of massage as a form of pampering, a form of touch therapy that refreshes the body and mind and relieves stress. Today, there are no two massage techniques, but therapeutic massage is fundamentally different from all of them.
The reason for this is that therapeutic massage is intrinsically linked to physiotherapy, physical therapy and the expert treatment of musculoskeletal problems, and is not a full body treatment, but focuses on the part of the body that is affected.
The medical masseur adapts to specific needs
An important feature of therapeutic massage is that it not only relieves the muscles and connective tissue – the fascia – from the blockages and thus relieves pain, but once the muscles are relaxed, the qualified massage therapist also uses special mobilisation and mobilisation techniques. These help to restore joint mobility.
Four massages for one purpose: healing
- Swedish massage focuses on the muscles, joints and tendons throughout the body. It helps to relax spasming muscles, restoring their movement function.
- The connective tissue massage is used to relax the connective tissue that has been stretched due to musculoskeletal diseases or internal organ problems, thus having a healing effect on the original disease.
- Segmental massage works on the interrelationship between the condition of the skin and connective tissue and the functioning of the underlying internal organs in the spinal area.
- Periosteal (periosteal) massage acts on the nerves located in the periosteum, improving blood flow and metabolism in the organs by means of remote reflexes.
Therapeutic massage improves the effectiveness of physiotherapy
Therapeutic massage is always a personalised treatment, tailored to the prescription of our rheumatologist or specialist in orthopedics. If the massage is done before a physiotherapy session, the movement becomes even more effective because the muscles are already prepared for the load.
