After prosthetic surgery, this leads to free movement!

Hip or knee joint replacement surgery is now a very common operation in Hungary. With the development of medical science, the risks of the intervention are becoming more and more minimal, and the results are getting better and better: practically complete recovery, i.e. normal quality of life and mobility can be achieved.
However, this success requires not only a good specialist, but also the cooperation of the patient and appropriate movement therapy.
Movement therapy can be divided into 3 phases:
1.) Before the surgery
Pain is still commonplace at this stage, and movement is very difficult, but a physiotherapist is needed to teach special techniques to prepare the body to cope with the "shock" of surgery. This means that the affected muscles, joints and ligaments can regenerate better and even recover! Your whole body will also be better able to cope with the short "forced rest" after surgery.
2.) Immediately after surgery
After the intervention, the first thing you can do is to heal the wound, and after the stitches have been removed (usually 10-14 days) you can start your first rehabilitation exercises with expert help. These are exercises led by a physiotherapist, called musculometric exercises, stabilisation gymnastics, venous gymnastics, which help to prevent thrombosis, i.e. to avoid blood clots during this period. Specialised physiotherapy can make a huge difference and is recommended for about 6 weeks on a personalised basis.
3.) 6 weeks later, the operated part of the body is usually well weight-bearing
During this period, you need to share the load carefully, gradually, but everyday tasks such as walking, shopping, etc. are no longer a problem.
However, it is strongly recommended that you change your lifestyle: this means that you need to include regular exercise in your daily routine. Of course, gradualism is the watchword, and a personal trainer, for example, is a useful help in the first few months. Cardio exercise or even running may be an option, but the most recommended sports are after hip or knee surgery:
- Room cycling
- Swimming
- Elliptical trainer
In our experience, 3 months after a successful operation, you may even be able to start skiing or dancing!
According to our orthopedic specialists, there's nothing to be afraid of, nor is it worth delaying surgery, because with the right rehabilitation programme, you can be back to pain-free, effortless movement in just a few weeks.
We believe that free, pain-free and enjoyable exercise is for everyone!
