1. The child’s unusual posture or gait

  • Inward-rolling ankles, the so-called “flat foot” gait, or even the feet turning outward.
  • Parents often notice that the soles of their child’s shoes are wearing down on one side, or that their child walks “strangely.”

Possible causes:
Postural imbalance, flat foot, or asymmetry in ankle or hip development.

2. Posture problems, “hunchback,” flat back, or protruding shoulder blades

  • Shoulder height discrepancy, slumped shoulders, hunched back, “hunchback” posture.
  • If the child is unable to “straighten up” or often complains of back pain, especially after starting school.

Possible causes:
Postural problems, scoliosis, muscle imbalance.

3. Frequent pain in the feet, knees, hips, or lower back

  • Symptoms that appear in the evening after physical activity, or when the child sits down frequently and becomes tired.
  • If a parent suspects “growing pains,” but the complaint ispersistent, occurs on one side only, or worsens with movement.
  • If the child is limping, favoring one leg, experiencing pain that radiates into the thigh, or is reluctant to run or jump.

Possible causes:
Static load, axial misalignment, sports-related overload, or hip joint misalignment or inflammation.

4. The child often falls or is clumsy

  • The dog stumbles, is unsteady when running, has difficulty jumping, or avoids active movement.

Possible causes:
Imbalance, abnormal muscle tone, or problems with motor coordination.

In such cases, an early evaluation in orthopedics and targeted physical therapy can be very helpful.

5. Pain, injury, or changes in posture in children who participate in sports following physical exertion

  • Overuse injuries (e.g. , knee, heel, Achilles, or hip pain) are common among children who participate in sports, whether after practice or in competitive settings.
  • If a coach or parent notices a change in posture (e.g., shoulder or pelvic tilt), it is important to have a preventive examination.

Possible cause:
Growth plate irritation, muscle imbalance, improper loading.

You don’t have to wait until pain or symptoms develop or worsen
– most issues can be effectively corrected if detected early.
