About

Prof. Dr. György Szőke PhD graduated in general medicine from Semmelweis Universityin 1985 . He qualified as an orthopedics surgeon in 1991. Since then , he has been working continuously at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Semmelweis University, where he has been mainly involved in pediatric orthopedics for the last 15-20 years.
Between 1992 and 1997 he worked abroad for 5 years. One year in England at the Department of Orthopaedic Traumatology, Bradford Royal Infirmary , followed by two and a half years at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford , and then one and a half years in the United States, one year at the Alfred I. DuPont Institute and half a year in Seattle, Washington Univesity , Department of Pediatric Orthopedics.

During his stay in Oxford , he obtained his M.Sc. (Oxon) degree as a member of St. Peter’s College, and then a Ph.D. degree from Semmelweis University in 2001.He habilitated at Semmelweis University in 2007.
In 2013, he was appointed as a professor at the Department of Orthopedics at Semmelweis University, and subsequently became Head of Department at the SE Orthopaedic Clinic in 2017. From 2013 to 2016 he was President of the Hungarian Society for Orthopedics. From 2018 to 2020 , he was the President of the Orthopedics Section of the College of Health Professions. For the last decade and a half, he has been the Head of Section of the Pediatric Orthopedics Section of the Hungarian Orthopaedic Society. Since 2017, he has been Co-Chair of the Professional Committee of Orthopedics-Traumatology at Semmelweis University.

During his professional career, he has published 134 publications in Hungarian and foreign languages, contributed to the writing of 23 Hungarian and foreign language textbook chapters and edited 3 textbooks. Honorary member of several foreign societies in the field of orthopedics.
