About

I believe that healing is based on trust and cooperation.
I see my patients not as patients, but as partners with whom we start the healing journey together.

My great grandfather, grandfather and father were all doctors. After my father’s untimely death, my grandfather, a well-known district doctor in the city centre, set an example for me: I saw how he was always looking after his patients, and this had a big influence on my career choice. So it became natural for me to choose medicine as my life.

I graduated from the University of Szeged and got my PhD degree, then I started working at the National Trauma Institute in Budapest. I spent 19 years there, also as head of the on-call department, and during this time I gradually became known as a “specialist in shoulder surgery”. I introduced arthroscopic surgery and reverse shoulder replacement surgery in fracture care, which are still the dominant methods today. I am now working at the Sports Hospital, where I am now exclusively involved in shoulder surgery, and training young doctors is a priority for me.

In traumatology, I have tried my hand at a wide variety of fields – from knee and hip prostheses to cruciate ligament replacement. In the end , I found shoulder surgery to be the most versatile specialty , requiring a whole person and offering new challenges every day. For me, healing is not just a surgical intervention: understanding the real problem is often more difficult than the intervention itself, so careful diagnosis and teamwork are always the keys to success. The role of physiotherapists in the recovery of shoulder patients is irreplaceable.

My speciality is arthroscopic-assisted tendon transfer in cases where the rotator cuff tear can no longer be reconstructed. I also regularly lecture at national and international courses, give continuing education courses for physiotherapists and am involved in resident education at the Sports Hospital. In 2025, I have been given the honour of being a consultant for Conmed in Hungary, where I am building an educational system.

Outside of my profession, movement is also my life: for 25 years I have been practicing and teaching tai chi chuan, which is not only a sport but also a way of life for me.

I am convinced that getting rid of shoulder problems can be a long process, so it is worth consulting a professional as soon as possible. The longer we delay starting treatment, the more difficult it will be to resolve the problem. It is important to find a doctor who can identify the real cause and know when to take action.
