TECAR therapy
The modern physiotherapy treatment TECAR is now available at BMM!
How does TECAR physiotherapy work?
The TECAR device creates an electromagnetic field in the tissue between two electrodes. The electrodes are applied to the surface of the body by the physiotherapist. A current is passed between the two electrodes, the rate of which depends on the conductivity of the tissue. The treatment is completely safe and the patient may feel a pleasant warm sensation during the therapy. During the treatment, high-frequency electromagnetic energy causes deep tissue hyperthermia to relieve pain, release trigger points and regenerate muscles.
Mechanism of TECAR therapy
During TECAR physiotherapy treatment a physiotherapist injects radiofrequency waves into tissues using different applicators. The high-frequency electromagnetic wave penetrates to different tissue depths, causing localised blood engorgement, which reduces muscle pain, loosens tight muscle knots, improves tissue metabolism. After various injuries, it increases the absorption of oedemas and haematomas.
It is important to highlight: a physiotherapy painless treatment!
What are the effects of physiotherapy?
- Reduced muscle aches and pains
- Loosen tight muscle knots
- Improved tissue metabolism
- Increased post-injury oedema, bruising absorption
When is TECAR therapy recommended?
- Various wear and tear joint conditions (arthrosis)
- Tendonitis
- Double Tunnel Syndrome
- Golf, and tennis elbow
- Rotator cuff damage
- Cervical spine complaints
- Back spine complaints
- Lower back pain
- Groin complaints
- Spurs
- Achilles tendonitis
- Rehabilitation after various fractures and injuries
When is therapy NOT recommended?
- Presence of electrical and metal implants
- Tumour disease
- Pregnancy
- Thrombosis, phlebitis
- Active inflammations in the body
- Heart disease
- Abnormal heat detection
- Open wounds in the area
- For blood clotting disorders
How many TECAR treatments are needed?
Depending on the severity of the complaints, you will usually minimum 5 - 10 treatment is needed. Noticeable improvement after the 3rd physiotherapy treatment.
The therapist may use massage techniques during the treatment or muscle activation movements. Passive movement techniques work well to release trigger points, but a combination of these techniques is most beneficial.
How often do I need to go for treatment?
1 treatment per week is needed to make a noticeable improvement.
