An essential part of personalised physiotherapy is the assessment of your condition, which takes place at the first appointment. Please bring all your medical reports and imaging results with you to help the therapist.

Health check

What happens during the health check?

During the health check, the therapist assess the patient your general musculoskeletal condition. It asks comprehensive questions about current complaints, medical history, previous injuries, operations, other illnesses, sports activities.

Next comes the recording of objective information. Go to the patient in a standing posture from 4 sides, assesses postural deviations and then examines the active movements of the waist and cervical spine. Assesses the extent of the movement, the quality of the movement, asks about the appearance of pain. Lying position by touch examines the tension and flattening of tissues, muscle tone. Then the special tests apply: these are muscle tests, nerve stretch tests.

During the baseline assessment, the therapist examines not only the area of complaint but also other joints, muscles and structures, as in some cases the problem may be caused by abnormalities in a region further away from the site of the current complaint.

Following the musculoskeletal examination, the patient will be informed in detail about the relevant abnormalities and physiotherapeutic functional diagnosis then determine with the patient the short and long-term treatment goals, the applicable therapies, a the frequency and duration of treatments.

What happens after the health check?

After the assessment, physiotherapy can begin.

In case of acute pain, 2 sessions per week are recommended for the first 1-2 weeks, after which the patient can switch to a weekly 55-minute session. For long-standing, less intense pain, one suitable session per week can provide significant improvement. Later, the frequency of treatments is adjusted according to the patient's condition and needs.

In terms of the number of treatments, a course of 10 treatments is recommended. In the case of long-standing complaints, there may be several postural abnormalities, which require time and patience on the part of both the patient and the therapist to resolve.Positive changes start to occur after 2-3 treatments, but premature termination of therapy leads to failure of therapy and recurrence of complaints in a significant number of cases.
