X-ray diagnostic examination available on site at Óbuda Musculoskeletal Private Clinic

Orthopaedic examination with X-ray diagnostics

For orthopaedic complaints, especially if the problem is due to injury, necessary in many cases X-ray image to prepare the part of the body concerned. In such cases, X-ray examination can be the key to differential diagnosis: it confirms, clarifies or even refutes the diagnosis suggested by the specialist's physical examination with images. X-rays show lesions of the bones and joints, so a proper X-ray examination is an excellent support for an accurate and precise differential diagnosis.

X-ray examinations are now available in two of the Budapest Musculoskeletal Private Clinics, even directly after your orthopaedic specialist examination! Visit Óbuda Musculoskeletal Private Clinic we can even provide the necessary X-ray diagnostics immediately on the recommendation of a specialist!

Important: the cost of diagnostic imaging is NOT included in the specialist examination fee, it is reimbursed separately. Prices for the various X-ray examinations here to find out more.

What methods do we use to treat?

We attach particular importance to the doctor-patient trust building, working together to heal. In our orthopaedic practices, we treat exclusively according to the most modern, evidence-based approach and principles of Western medicine. Strict investigation protocol but we are also involved in promising modern research. In all cases, the treatment methods tailored to the individual, tailored to the patient's needs and possibilities.

The orthopaedic specialist will perform a physical and imaging examination (e.g. X-rays, ultrasound, MR), establish the diagnosis and then decide on the therapy. The treatment can be either conservative (i.e. without surgery) or surgical.

Conservative orthopaedic treatments

In the orthopaedics department the orthopaedic specialist draws up a conservative treatment plan depending on the patient's complaints and tailored to the patient's condition and circumstances.

Anti-inflammatory injection

Inflammatory complaints of the joints and periosteum can be significantly reduced in 2-3 days with targeted, localised, low-dose steroid treatment. The choice of medication, the administration of joint injections, takes into account the patient's individual characteristics and in 90% cases, relief of symptoms is achieved.

Joint filler injections

Hyaluronic acid is injected into the joint surfaces, significantly reducing friction, and the hyaluronic acid also nourishes cartilage cells. The injected substance remains in the joint for six months, during which time most of the cartilage cells regenerate. The big advantage is that it has no side effects and is no more uncomfortable than a blood test or an anaesthetic injection at the dentist.

Serum therapy

Returning serum from your own blood back into the joint is a revolutionary solution. The body's own anti-inflammatory mechanisms are concentrated and returned to the joint. For more information on the possibilities of serum therapy, please contact your orthopaedic specialist.

Shockwave therapy

The special shock waves stimulate blood and lymph circulation, which speeds up the healing process and reduces pain. Muscles in the treated area are relaxed and tendons and joints are restored. Shock wave therapy is recommended for the treatment of orthopaedic complaints in the following areas: heels, elbows, shoulders, knees.

A physiotherapy is the most effective circulatory treatment that also immediately improves joint function. The aim is for the patient to learn the exercises - with the help of our qualified therapists - using the latest video knowledge base, so that they can perform the exercises perfectly at home with personalised exercise.

The regular medical massage is a very effective aid, as it can mobilise muscles and ligaments that have been stiff for years.

In addition to the above laser therapy and physiotherapy treatments (ultrasound treatment, electrotherapy, wave massage) and other complementary therapies (kinezio tape, flossing technique, NRX dynamic fixation) are also used for conservative treatment of orthopaedic problems.

Orthopaedic operations

In the case of orthopaedic complaints, surgery is an option when other conservative treatments fail.

The consideration of the intervention always starts with the risk-benefit principle, involving several specialties - e.g. in the choice of anaesthesia, and ends with post-operative rehabilitation.

When planning the operation, it is important to a diagnostic imaging scan of the affected part of the body. In most cases magnetic resonance, or MR scanning result, ultrasound or X-ray image to obtain precise information about the location, extent and degree of the orthopaedic lesion.

The most common orthopaedic surgery provide a solution for degenerative, abrasive diseases of the upper and lower limbs.

These include:

  • hip, knee and shoulder joint replacements,
  • corrective joint surgery after accidents, such as knee arthroscopic cartilage release or cruciate ligament replacement,
  • bunions and hammer toe due to deformities of the forefoot, which prevent the shoe from being worn.

The importance of before orthopaedic surgery, to prepare the muscles and joints for the operation, it is recommended to start the physiotherapy.

The most common orthopaedic diseases

  • In infancy early development of the hips and other joints. A for children aged 2-5 developmental abnormalities of the spine and foot: scoliosis, inward ankle tilt - i.e. ankle drop - is the most common problem.
  • Adolescence focus on the development of the spine: we distinguish between sloppy posture or other spinal developmental disorders.
  • Adulthood sports injuries or static positions such as prolonged sitting or standing can cause premature wear and tear. Tennis players often develop tennis elbow, golfers golf elbow and basketball players often develop disc herniation.
  • In old age articular cartilage damage is the cause of most complaints. Many treatments can help in the early stages, but in the late stages, surgery is the only option.

The course of the orthopaedic examination

  1. The first key step is to medical history detecting. Taking a good history is half the diagnosis.
  2. Physical examination and status assessment: the musculoskeletal system is examined by palpation, palpation and tests. Over decades, a testing algorithm has been developed that can immediately diagnose many diseases.
  3. The key to differential diagnosis is an imaging test. Images are usually taken using X-rays or magnetic resonance (MR) scans. While the X-rays shows the structure of the bones, while the MR provides detailed information on the soft tissues.
    • X-ray examination is also available in our practice: az In Óbuda Musculoskeletal Private Clinic even an X-ray examination recommended by the doctor can be carried out immediately after the specialist examination.
    • Magnetic Resonance (MR) scan at our partner institution SMART Diagnostics we can make an appointment at short notice. Due to the nature of the MR scan, it takes 2-3 days to obtain the results.
  4. The physical examination and, if necessary, imaging together give the an accurate diagnosis.
  5. We prepare a therapeutic proposal, we have to decide what conservative - i.e. non-surgical - solutions are possible: medication, injections, most often physiotherapy. In the case of surgery, we explain the surgical procedure and its purpose based on the expected risk-benefit principle.
  6. We prepare documentation, we will organise further tests, surgery if necessary, and we will guide you through the healing process.
  7. We will issue a bill for the health service at the reception desk, the you choose the payment methodThis can be cash, credit card, health insurance card, through insurance or by advance payment.
