We welcome you for a patient-friendly X-ray examination at our Budapest location. The digital X-rays we use are designed to lower the radiation exposure to the body in line with today's standards. Our assistants take maximum care of the patient's radiation protection by using the appropriate protective equipment!
What is an X-ray?
In 1895, a German professor, Wilhelm Röntgen, discovered an invisible radiation that can penetrate solid bodies. Named after him, X-rays are still the basis of one of the most important imaging tests of our time, X-rays.
X-rays penetrate the body. Different tissues absorb or scatter the rays to different degrees. In conventional X-rays, the rays that pass through the body are reflected on a film behind the body, which shows the X-ray shadow of each organ. The digital X-ray used in our practice takes the images without the use of film, and the images are immediately transferred to a computer. This is a more environmentally friendly solution, as it does not require the use of dangerous chemicals to develop the films.
The image shows very clearly, among other things, changes in the bones and joints. X-rays also allow an accurate diagnosis of calcification-related pathologies.
In the case of musculoskeletal complaints, especially if the problem is the result of an injury, it is often necessary to take an X-ray of the affected part of the body. Diagnostic imaging is the key to a differential diagnosis: it confirms, clarifies or even refutes the diagnosis suggested by the specialist's physical examination with images.
You can request an X-ray examination orthopaedics and rheumatology even if there is no trauma, i.e. injury, behind the musculoskeletal complaint. In the case of back pain or knee pain, for example, a proper X-ray can give an idea of the condition of the bones, discs, joints and cartilage.
For which musculoskeletal problems is an X-ray recommended?
In case of accident or injury, to clarify the risk of fracture (foot, ankle, knee, thigh, hip, pelvis, spine, hand, wrist, shoulder, collarbone). In case of spinal pain (back pain, neck pain).

How is the X-ray examination done?
X-rays are taken on the advice of a specialist. In the event of a musculoskeletal complaint, our specialist will interview the patient according to the BMM examination protocol and then perform a physical examination. Based on these findings, a decision is made on the need for diagnostic imaging test(s). The type and direction of imaging to be performed will be determined by the specialist. The images are taken from at least two directions, but also from three directions in the case of the shoulder and ankle, for an accurate diagnosis of any lesions.
X-ray examinations do not require any special preparation: it is safe to eat, drink and take medication at any time before the examination. During the examination, the body part to be examined must be made free, and clothing, jewellery and other accessories must be removed. Depending on the complaint and the part of the body being examined, the examination may be performed in a standing, sitting or lying position. The X-ray examination takes a few minutes.
The X-rays are evaluated by radiologists and sent to you by email within 72 hours of the examination.
Our doctors can also look at the X-rays immediately after the examination and recommend the necessary treatment or send the patient for additional tests.
Protection is important
X-ray scanning involves radiation that is harmful to the human body (at high doses). However, the radiation to the body during the examination does not pose any serious risk. However, patient safety is of paramount importance to our private practice, so we take every precaution to minimise radiation exposure and our specialists recommend the examination only when it is strictly necessary.
X-ray examinations are always carried out in accordance with hygiene standards, with regular disinfection.
Contraindications to X-ray examination
X-rays can be taken for all ages. In pregnant women and young children, however, only in very justified cases and on the advice of a specialist. It is important that you always inform the doctor if you are pregnant or suspect you are pregnant.
How to register for the test?
X-ray examinations are carried out with or without the advice of a specialist, with or without prior appointment. We can also take an X-ray immediately after the specialist examination!
