Personalised, individual physiotherapy for children is often recommended not only to treat diagnosed problems but also to prevent them. The main goal of gymnastics is to prevent scoliosis and develop ideal posture, and it can also fully treat flat feet and movement restrictions caused by injury or disease in childhood.

The role of physiotherapy for children

Specialist screening and preventive practices in childhood to minimise the chances of problems developing later.

Nowadays, an increasing number of children are affected by static foot flat feet and an ankle joint that slopes inwards. It is important to try to correct the discrepancy even in children who have been diagnosed at an early stage, even if the child has not yet complained of pain. Physiotherapy, insoles, special heel lifts without it, these failures will only get worse in the future, become permanent and may even lead to complaints. We must always strive to remedy a given condition as soon as possible, to prevent its severity!

Improper neglect can develop:

  • Reduced capacity of the back, abdomen, pelvis muscles
  • From pain
  • Psychological factors
  • Sudden growth
  • From sitting in the wrong seat (at home and/or school)
  • Lack of willpower

Four types of negligence are distinguished:

  • Flat back, when the curve of the backbone and the lumbar (waist) curve are reduced, resulting in a flat back. Untreated, low back pain is common in adulthood. The most common type of neglect is when the child's muscular development is not in proportion to the increase in length.
  • Kypholordotic back, when the dorsal and lumbar curvature is more pronounced than normal.
  • Saddle on back is when the degree of dorsal hunch is normal but the lumbar hunch is increased.
  • Convex back the back bulge extends to part of the lumbar spine.

Nowadays, we see a lot of children playing sport who go to a doctor or physiotherapist with some kind of musculoskeletal complaint. Prevention is also very important, but the conditions that develop can be treated well, often conservatively. It is also advisable to provide children with a personalised, easy-to-follow physiotherapy programme for active children, which is important for avoiding pain and deformity and for improving sports performance.

With early therapy, a lot of pain and everyday discomfort can be avoided!

The customized movement sequences spectacular results can be achieved after the first few sessions! There is no age limit for children's physiotherapy, which can be started from newborn age.
