Foods can be grouped according to their purine content:

- The medium (50 - 70 mg) of purine-containing foods with caution, moderately recommended
- The low (50 mg) of purine-containing foods recommended
Foods with high and very high purine content meat, fish, offal and processed products thereof. In particular, you should avoid fatty meat dishes. Occasionally, small amounts of lean poultry meat (chicken breast, possibly turkey breast, strictly without skin), lean fish fillets or pre-cooked minced meat are allowed.
