After an initial bout of tendonitis, Krisztina Zsiga's pastry chef's hand problems worsened. She developed tunnel syndrome, which was accompanied by constant pain. Eventually, Dr. Anett Lénárt Anett surgically repaired Krisztina's hands.

Disease caused by overgrazing

Dr. Anett Lénárt summarized Krisztina's complaints like this:

When Krisztina Zsiga first came to see me, she could practically produce on both hands almost all the complaints, symptoms and illnesses that could be caused by over-exposure. She works as a pastry chef and makes a lot of cakes. He has strained his hands to such an extent that virtually every overuse disease that exists in hand surgery has been found on his hands.

Regular, monotonous overuse of the fingers and wrists and hormonal changes play a major role in the development of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I found the doctor through the internet. ...I really only heard good things about her and found the best.... I made an appointment and was in the doctor's office after only two days. ...I had my first surgery, which thank God was successful.

- Krisztina recalls.

Surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome

Surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome does not require a long hospital stay. It can be performed in a single surgical procedure. The operation is a minor surgery, so it is usually performed under local anaesthesia. In some cases, however, it can be performed under general anaesthesia, which is always recommended by the surgeon performing the operation.

Tunnel syndrome surgery is performed during the a hand surgeon cuts the ligament in the hand, thus freeing up the constricted wrist tunnel. This allows more space for the central nerve of the hand and the flexor tendons. The procedure results in the release of the pressure.

After making the necessary incisions, the wound is stitched up.

The operation by a specialist hand surgeon takes about 20 minutes.

Dr Anett Lénárt on the tunnel syndrome:

The symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome usually occur only at night at first, but later they can also develop during the day. ...Later on, it can cause numbness and loss of hand function throughout the day. The surgical solution is under local anaesthesia. A tiny incision is made in the skin to release the nerve at the pinched section. After the operation, the symptoms usually disappear, the numbness usually settles later.

Surgery can be a complete cure for early hand complaints

Dr. Anett Lénárt urges everyone to seek professional advice in good time, as soon as the initial symptoms appear.

It is advisable to see a doctor as soon as possible if you have any numbness in your fingers. This is because a relatively short, easy and uncomplicated operation can help. If we can do this surgery as soon as possible, even with a short time of being a downtrodden stranger, full rehabilitation, full return to full health can be achieved within a few weeks. If a very long-pressed, damaged nerve needs to be released, we may not be able to achieve full recovery with surgery.

As with all illnesses, it's a good idea to see a doctor as soon as possible if you have a complaint about your hand. Diseases that are detected and diagnosed early are always much easier to cure, than acute problems that have been lingering for years.

Nobody should be afraid of it, because it's really good, it's really good now that I can use my hands the way I had to before. No need to be afraid, go away, they won't hurt you, they will help you!
