1. The child's conspicuous posture or gait

  • Ankle tilted inwards, i.e. „flatfoot” gait, or even the turning the foot outwards.
  • Parents often notice that the sole of the shoe is worn on one side or that the child walks „strangely”.

Possible reason:
Static deviation, flat feet, ankle or hip developmental asymmetry.

2. Postural defect, „curved back”, flat back or protruding shoulder blades

  • Shoulder height discrepancy, sloping shoulders, curved back, „humped” posture.
  • If the child cannot „straighten up/straighten out” or often has back pain, especially after starting school.

Possible reason:
Postural deformity, scoliosis, muscle imbalance.

3. Frequent leg, knee, hip or lower back pain

  • Complaints that after exercise, for the evening or if the child often sits down, gets tired.
  • If the parent suspects „growing pains” but the complaint is notendoscopic, unilateral or increasing with movement.
  • If the child limping, sparing one leg, has radiating pain in the thigh or is reluctant to run/jump.

Possible reason:
Static load, axle misalignment, sports specific overload, or hip joint abnormality or inflammatory process.

4. The child often falls or has clumsy movements

  • He stumbles, is unsteady when running, has difficulty jumping or avoids active movement.

Possible reason:
Imbalance, muscle tone imbalance, movement coordination problems.

Early orthopaedic assessment and targeted mobility training can help.

5. Post-exercise pain, injury or postural changes in a child playing sport

  • Overuse complaints are common in children after training or playing competitive sports (e.g. knee, heel, Achilles or hip pain).
  • If a coach or a parent notices a change in posture (e.g. a tilted shoulder or pelvis), it is important to check this before the child is born.

Possible reason:
Growth zone irritation, muscle imbalance, poor load.

No need to wait until pain or discomfort develops or worsens
- most deviations can be corrected well if detected in time.
